Do you have a grumpy old grandma? George does. George’s Marvelous Medicine by Roald Dahl is about when George gets left home with his grumpy old grandma. The grumpy old witch asks for tea and her medicine. Then George starts making a medicine for grandma to cure the old witch. When George is done with the medicine he gives it to grandma. Find out what happens when she drinks the medicine.
Most characters are not believable, but a few are. George is kind of believable because he would try to make the medicine but he wouldn’t try to kill or poison his grandma. Mr. Killy Kranky is not realistic because no adult would to poison his wife’s mother. Mr. Killy Kranky tried to make animals bigger so that he could make money. Adults his age don’t do that.
I would rate George’s Marvelous Medicine a 10 out of 10 because the story was interesting, fun and entertaining. I like how the author puts in his funny rhymes in the book. I recommend this book to fourth graders that like fantasy books. George’s Marvelous Medicine is a book you will never forget.
